The Definition of a Casual Dress Code

What is a casual dress code? Is it jeans and a soft blouse? A long maxi dress and wedges? Or is it boyfriend jeans, paired will killer heels and a blazer? In my opinion, casual dress code can be all three options. the According to Wikipedia, the definition of casual is “the dress code that emphasizes comfort and personal expression over presentation, formality and conformity.” I firmly believe that even since you are spending 40 (+) hours a week at the office, there is no reason not to dress your best and let your personality shine through your clothing.

I have been fortunate to work in an office setting that allows for casual dress code for the past 2 years. Over the years I’ve seen it all. Old stained t-shirts, ripped acid wash jeans, flip flops, and yoga pants that pass off as “casual.” I decided to write this blog because: 1) people said that I should and 2) there are not enough resources or blogs dedicated to the office casual wardrobe. In my research, the spectrum goes from either business professional to college preppy chic. If that is what you are searching for, this is not the blog for you.
